RUNS IN THE FAMILY: Director-actor Bhagyaraj and daughter Sharanya on the sets of `Parijatham.'
As the young girl comes pedalling down the deserted road of Neelangarai, an elderly man stops the bike to have a word with her. Nothing unusual about it. One realises shooting is in progress as applause is heard, the unit hands showing their happiness seeing the father-daughter duo Bhagyaraj and Sharanya in action for ``Parijatham."
How is the experience, acting with his daughter? Bhagyaraj is absolutely at ease. The crew moves into a house to continue the shoot and finding Sharanya as servant maid one is curious about the storyline.
Bhagyaraj, also writer-director, is not ready to part with the details. ``You will find Sharanya calling both Roja and Seetha mother. And thereby hangs a tale," he says. ``No, the audience will not be confused. They are used to my style of story telling. I employed flash cuts and surprises with great effect for `Mouna Geethangal,' `Andha Ezhu Naatkal,' and so on. Properly linked up, the story will make sense," he says with confidence. The screenplay is bound to impress the viewers, he feels.
Prakash Raj is playing an important role.
What are the highlights of the film? ``We are very happy with a song shot using the photosonic technique. Then the song shot in Switzerland is gorgeous. The credit goes to cameraman S. Kumar," says the director.
The hero Prithviraj thinks he is lucky to work with Bhagyaraj. ``He is a master storyteller, the way he comes up with knots is amazing," he says.
Sharanya is proud to be introduced by her celebrity father. ``More than anything else he is happy with my work, which is the best reward I could have thought of," is her response.
Bhagyaraj is also introducing Dharan, music director. Oscar Films Ravichandran is releasing "Parijatham" produced by K. Manjula.
