All for a cause

M. L. NARASIMMHAM

A.S.R. Creations' `Seenugaadu Chiranjeevi Fan' weaves in the significance of social welfare measures.

`MEGA' MESSAGE Vijay Vardhan and Adin in the film.

His name sells. After being at the top for nearly two decades, the icon's image is still on thumbs up mode. Many dreamt of emulating the mega star on the silver screen. Though not of his class, some made it and there are many waiting in the wings. One of them found a benevolent educationist father to launch him as a hero with A.S.R. Creations' Seenugaadu Chiranjeevi Fan, directed by debutante Poosala Radhakrishna. Produced by Akula Sri Ramulu, the film stars Vijay Vardhan, a die-hard fan of Chiranjeevi and model-turned-actress Adin from Mumbai. Mansi another new face for Telugu screen plays the second lead.

"Besides giving their money's worth of entertainment, the story (written by the director himself) has a purpose and showcases a cause that is dear to the megastar and for millions of his fans now," informs the director in between the dubbing session at the Super Good Films dubbing theatre in Film Nagar.

A few days ago, he was shooting a comedy track on Venumadhav, M.S. Narayana, L.B. Sriram, Jyothi and Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao at the now famous Ramachandrapuram house set at Ramanaidu Studios, Nanakramguda. "The theme has some lighter moments with the characters played by Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sivaji Raja and Narsing Yadav. But we felt injecting a little more comedy will add up to the quality. It is a parody scene from a recent film combined with some characters we come across in the society. The comic punches leave a subtle message too," says the director whostarted his career as an apprentice with Kodi Ramakrishna.

"Vijay underwent formal training in acting under veteran Satyanand and also learnt dance and fights before facing the camera. In real life he is an ardent fan of Chiranjeevi. So when his father decided to launch him as a hero he expressed a wish that the film should not be a run of the mill one. Its theme should have a purpose. What could be better suited than the mega star's large-scale social welfare measures like the eye bank and the blood bank? So they became part of this family drama. In our own small way we tried to highlight these welfare measures. The bottom line is that if fans unite they can achieve anything in the world and work towards a better society. When I say fans, I mean fans of all the top stars," smiles Radhakrishna. Incidentally, his father Poosala Venkateswara Rao, wrote the dialogue.

"It is a city-based subject and we shot most of the film at Visakhapatnam and Araku and the remaining portions in Hyderabad. Adin has a performance-oriented role while Mansi ups the glamour quotient. Subhavela fame Raviprakash plays the villain and Narsing Yadav his aide. Abhinayasri appears in a dance number, the sequence shot during a temple festivity, forms a turning point. We are happy that the songs are becoming popular as the audio sales indicate," concludes the director as the red light beams above the hydraulic door indicating that it is time for the dubbing session to resume.
