It's festival time for theatre buffs

FOR THE PRITHVI FEST: Measure for Measure

The 27th Prithvi Theatre festival has started with a sparkle on November 3. The spotlight is on "Measure for Measure," a Shakespearean play produced by Complicite from London. As Sanjana Kapoor puts it, the show, is "the realisation of a seven - year dream"Another aspect of the festival is "Theatremania," which will have theatre groups from Mumbai like Rage, Ansh, Awishkar and Vikalp staging their productions. There will also be a portion of the Ten (Tendulkar) Festival organised by Amol Palekar.

In keeping with the Prithvi Theatre tradition, there will be several platform performances, including Habib Tanvir's presentation of Chekhov's, "The Harmful Effects of Tobacco," short performances by local groups inspired by Shakespeare and an exhibition at each venue about William Shakespeare.
