LOVE, PASSION AND TRADITION: `About Love' shows how difficult relationships can be.
The Second International Film Festival of Tamil Nadu will be held at the Sathyam Cineplex from November 9 to 13. It is being organised by the International Tamil Film Academy (ITFA) and Seventh Channel.
Giving details about the festival, the president of the ITFA, Manicam Narayanan said that they were able to get 50 films and the selection panel has chosen 20 films to be screened at the venue. "There will be films from Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, U.K. and Switzerland. Some of the best talents from the international arena will attend the event. There will be directors and lead actors from Spain, Lituania, Czech Republic and Hong Kong. `A Land Of Glass' director Janina Lapinskatie of Lituania , Czech Republic actor Marek Vasut (`Subway with Love,) Spanish director Juanna Bajko Ulloa (`Fragile'), actress Teresa Cheung, who won the best new performer award at the recent Manila Film Festival, producer Yang and art director Ma, `Colour Blossoms' a co-production of Japan and Korea will attend the festival," he added.
A peep into the festival films:
`About Love' A love story that deals with more than just one couple, set against the backdrop of Tokyo, Taipei and Shanghai.
Love, passion and tradition are the elements in this film and show us how difficult relationships can be.
`A Land of Glass' After her second baby's difficult birth and subsequent illness, a young woman finds life difficult. Her partner cannot understand her fragile state, making a tragic outcome inevitable.
`Abouna' Waking up one morning, Tahir (aged 15) and Amine (eight) learn that their father has left the house under mysterious circumstances.
`Bitter Coffee' It is a comedy about people, who don't know what they want, because they want too much and when they get it, they realise how little they need.
`Color Blossoms' It is a tale of sensual love involving a Hong Kong estate agent and an elegant Japanese noble woman.
`Fragile' Venus, a romantic 25-year old is still waiting for true love. When she meets charismatic actor David, it seems as though her search has ended.
`From Subway with Love' It is a slightly grotesque story of two women.
`The First Kiss' It is a romantic coming-of-age comedy of first love.
