Dikshithar's festival
A unique festival with multimedia presentations on Muthuswamy Dikshithar's works and live concerts focussing entirely on Diskhithar's compositions is going to treat Bangalore to some legendary music. The programme will even offer insight into the musician's life.
The Muthuswamy Dikshithar Festival, organised by the Vijaya College of Music and Narayanaswamy Bhagavathar Memorial Trust, will be on from November 7 to November 13. The venue of this one-of-its-kind festival will be the Bangalore Gayana Samaja.
On November 7, the festival will be inaugurated by Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. R.K. Srikantan. This will be followed by a multimedia presentation Muthuswamy Dikshithar Life & Times: Part 1, followed by a concert.
There will be a presentation of Muthuswamy Dikshithar's Navavarna krithis, his krithis on various deities, apart from the story of his life. On November 13, 9 a.m., there will be a group rendition of Dikshithar's compositions by the students of R.K. Padmanabha.
A lecture on Muthuswamy Dikshithar will be delivered by Dr. V.V. Srivatsa. This is to be followed by a felicitation programme to honour artistes who have worked to popularise Dikshithar's works.
