Leela's music lingers

Sir, — Randor Guy's write-up (Friday Review, Nov. 4) on P. Leela (`This Nightingale will be heard forever') would have sent many lovers of music down memory lane. A fitting tribute to a singer who passed away recently! A sense of nostalgia runs throughout the story and the writer is genuine in his narration. Way back in the 1960s students have won prizes in music competitions singing songs such as `Ellaam Inba Mayam' or `Sundari Soundari.' P. Leela's songs were played at functions and at temple festivals, and was enjoyed by music lovers of all age groups. The song has ended but the music lingers ...
