Rambha is set to sizzle the screen once again in her second innings.

ROSE TINTED GLASSES Rambha's stunning transformation and films in the kitty are reason enough for the megawatt smile.
Rambha, the Telugu girl who danced her way to leading roles in Hindi films and later deserted Telugu projects, is now dancing along the comeback trail. It is a fact that she emerged like a resplendent butterfly from a chrysalis, to become one of the most glamorous and sought-after actors in commercial Hindi cinema. However, in the last couple of years, this oomph girl seems to have faded out. But now again, she has at least 10 films in her kitty and is on a signing spree.
Her meteoric rise in the early '90s proved beyond a doubt, talent not beauty is what mattered. Her sudden exit at the height of popularity broke the hearts of her fans and had producers and critics clucking in despair. The actress takes time off her busy schedule and takes us back to her early days in the industry.
In a brief chat, she says she is baffled by the rumours about her latest film being named `Dream Girl' and says it hasn't been titled yet and it's no way related to the Hindi film.
How do you tackle criticism?
My parents and people close to me have prepared me for the worst right from my salad days. So I was aware that the life span of a heroine is short, and fame and glory are transitory. I'm thankful for keeping me grounded. I'm used to criticism.Even when I did Alluda Mazaaka, people never credited the success to me. They said Lakshmi and Ramya stole the show. They had other things to say about Hitler and Bombai Priyudu. There was a time when I was offered 10 films at a time but I chose to work in two or three. Producers are aware of my work.I think I was at the right place at the right time and did all the right films.
Is lack of projects one reason for your long absence in Telugu cinema?
I ventured into other languages because I wanted to reach more audiences, and I didn't want people to get bored of me. That would have definitely happened if I had stuck to Telugu films. I did have my share of pitfalls but I take it with a pinch of salt, but, on the whole, I'm happy and content. The film industry is a piquant place to work. You have to keep your spirits soaring. Otherwise, it's difficult to make a career here. If there is a small nice role in a film and I am okay with it, it doesn't mean I will reduce my price. I've got to maintain my standard.
You have gone through an amazing transformation!
It's all a learning process. At the beginning of my career, I was such a novice I didn't know anything about haute couture. But as time went by, I began browsing, got a lot of inputs from my cousins and was abreast with the latest in fashion. A lot of people told me that I look fresh and fit now. But that's the way I've always been. Whenever someone tells me that I'm putting on weight, I knock it off immediately. I love to look good, feel good and keep fit always. I'm still working in a couple of Hindi films and Mumbai has helped me open up. I used to be a quiet girl but now I do speak, otherwise it doesn't work there. I have a few friends in the industry who I keep calling whenever I'm in Hyderabad. With others, I don't usually open up. And some people, I keep them in their limits!
