Spotlight on a director

Sam Mendes.

This week Tom Brook speaks to Sam Mendes, the director of the movie Jarhead, on BBC World's Talking Movies, November 16 and 17 at 1500 and 2200 hours respectively. It is a true story about a group of US Marines situated in the Saudi Arabia desert during the Gulf war to find out why the director felt it was important to capture the human stories of some of those involved in the conflict.

Tom also reports on the controversy surrounding a film starring the hip-hop giant 50 cents. Also there is a review of a documentary on the New York Dolls, which is one of the first major punk groups.
