NUTSHELL

One Man Band

Teenager Rohit Kulkarni, presented "One Man Band", an evening of classic rock and pop on the guitar, keyboard and vocals earlier this week at the Habitat Centre.

Dance Recitals

Ganga Grace, disciple of late Sri Muthuswami Pillai and Kalanidhi Narayanan presented a Bharatanatyam recital at the Habitat Centre. Alliance Francaise de Delhi and the Embassy of France presented Le temps du repli by Josef Nadj, a contemporary dance performance earlier this week at Sri Ram Centre auditorium. The dancers included Josef Nadj and Cecile Thieblemont while music and percussion was by Vladimir Tarasov.

Carnatic Music Recitals

IIC hosted this past Sunday Carnatic Classical Music - vocal and instrumental recitals - presented by young upcoming artistes from Delhi. Vocal recitals were by Archana Jayaraman, Vani Shivdass, M. Vaishnavi and Risha Ramachandran. Violin trio presented by Aarti Ramakrishnan, K. Sundara Rajan and Bharat Sriraman. The accompanists included A. Sneha, R. Saravaranan and Bharat Anand (violin); V. Shanker Raman, T.S. Shriram, K. Srikant, S. Dinesh Kumar, S. Raghunandan, B. Manohar and N.C. Sudarshan (mridangam). This was the tenth annual concert featuring budding young talents.

Theatre Activities

Theatre World presented Lushin Dubey's "Muskaan" this past Friday, which was repeated the next day. Stagecoach Kids Club presented a musical play in English based on the Ramayan. And ACME presented a Hindi play "Natgarh", the story of an English student in London and an English woman and the human relationship which develops between the two. This play was repeated the next day at the Habitat Centre.

Art Exhibitions

The art exhibitions that concluded recently included Gautam Mukherji's "Down Memory Lane" at the Habitat Centre' Krishna's Collection's "Shubh Dipawali"; Shalini Passi's exhibition of landscapes at the Habitat; Cancer Patients Aid Association's "colours of Life", also at the Habitat; solo show of Gopal Rai presented by Lokayata Arts Gallery at Hauz Khas Village; solo exhibition of paintings of Swapan Bhandary presented by Arushi Arts; paintings by Madhu Sharma at the Triveni and paintings by Sangeeta Singh at the Ashok Hotel's Art lounge.
