`Maja' is reportedly doing good business and Vikram is happy that healthy comedy has won.

"The producer has been laughing his way to the bank and the distributors are happy. What more does one need, to show that the film is doing well," queries an exasperated insider from the `Maja' unit. True, the rain did play havoc in the first few days of the film's release. But it was not as though `Maja' alone was singled out. All the Deepavali releases did suffer an initial setback.
"Naturally ... would anyone allow their kids to visit cinema halls during a cyclone?" laughs Vikram, as he greets you with a cheerful `Hi' from Coimbatore. "I'm relaxing here. This is my way of unwinding," he explains. "The first week is monopolised by fans. It is from the following week that families begin to visit theatres. So that crowd is intact and is increasing with every passing day ... I'm very happy."
Does he regret going in for the lighter genre after `Anniyan?' "No way ... each of my films has been different from the other. So too with `Maja' which is markedly different from what I've done so far," is Vikram's stand. `Maja,' he assures, has proved a commercially viable exercise for the makers and the buyers. "When a few decry it on some pretext or the other how do you go about making the world realise the actual figures? Look whether a film has raked in the moolah or not is for those involved in the business of the product to say. You can check out the facts from any distributor. In fact collections have been steadily increasing," he contends.
"A healthy comedy for kids and elders, though things could have been spruced up in the second half, " says a viewer about `Maja,' which he watched on the day of its release.
"Today `Anniyan' is a proven hit but when it was released there were those who said it was a wash-out. Now the very same people tell me that after such a great hit as `Anniyan,' I should have gone in for serious stuff again. Such comments only make you smile," says Vikram.
