A committee constituted of some senior citizens of eminence including the foster daughter of late Vangala Narasimha Deekshitulu (an advocate, freedom fighter and social worker) organised a `tributes programme' celebrating his birthday recently.
The programme was held in the premises of Srikrishna Vidya Mandir of the BVK. Former V.M.C Mayor and Chairman, Bar Council of India, D.V. Subba Rao, who was guest of honour, spoke of the high ethical, moral and professional values for which late Deekshitulu stood.
Vocal recital evocatively rendered by Sarada Subrahmanyam in the excellent company of All India Radio staffers N.C. Madhav on violin, V.V. Ramana Murthy (mridangam) and Mandapaka Ravi ( kanjira) marked the evening. Her repertoire among other items included Lakshanamulugala of Tyagaraja (Suddhasaveri), Nannubrovu of Syama Sastry (Lalitha) adorned with ragam, neravu and swaram and expansive elaboration of Marimarivachuna Maanavajanma of Mysore Vasudevachar (kambhoji).
