Another family entertainer

M.L. Narasimham

After delivering box office successes `Pellam Voorelithe', `Mayalodu' and `Hungama', S.V.Krishna Reddy directs yet another star-studded family entertainer.

ONCE MORE Veterans (from left: Rajendra Prasad, Srikanth and S.V. Krishna Reddy) get together to give `Saradaa Saradaagaa' their best shot.

Music World in Banjara Hills is besieged with stargazers and curious onlookers. Stationed near the shop, Anand Cine Services outdoor unit van revealed the reason. Spotted inside the sprawling music store are director S.V. Krishna Reddy, producer G.V. Prasad, actors Srikanth and Sindhu Thulani, and the unit of Damini Entertainments (P) Ltd., shooting for Saradaa Saradaagaa . After discussing the scene to be taken with his cinematographer Arun Kumar, S.V.K calls for the shot.

The shot is completed successfully in just one take. "Seasoned artistes or good actors contribute a lot for better results," says Krishna Reddy.

"After a long hiatus I am working with Rajendra Prasad again. We gave two big hits earlier Rajendrudu-Gajendrudu and Mayalodu. With Srikanth I made nine films and all of them are commercial successes. So here apart from the two seasoned actors we have a third hero Siva Balaji too," he continues. About the multi-starrer, "I prefer making family entertainers with humour as its foundation. The current film will also entertain on the lines of Pellam Voorelithe, Mayalodu and my recent hit Hungama. The narrative will have a speed matching with the mood of the modern day audiences." As he is talking he watches the actors who are now posing for close up shots for stills. This brings us back to the scene he just shot on his lead actors.

Twists and intricacies

"Srikanth is in love with Sindhu. But he has not dared to disclose it to her. At a prior meeting, they had a conflict. The duo accidentally met at this music shop. Both want to utilise the opportunity to clear the air amicably. Instead of a patch up, this leads to another intricate situation. With each such incident the story takes different paths leading to hilarity," he explains.

Rajendra Prasad is cast as a married businessman and a friend of Srikanth who is also into business. Siva Balaji is a Dubai returned youngster in love with a girl (Pranathi). Ali is a friend and plays a major role in the comedy of errors while giving advice in love related matters. "The film leaves a subtle message that how the lies lead to intriguing situations in life even if they are told when such situation warrants," says the director who has composed the music too. It is break time and the director is locked up in some discussion with the story and dialogue writer Janardhan Maharshi.

"We are shooting at a stretch to complete the film in a single schedule," chips in producer G.V. Prasad. Son of the late industry leader and producer G. Hanumantha Rao, Prasad has made two films in Tamil and is launching two films in Hindi one with Dharmendra and Sunny Deol and the other with Mithun Chakravarthy's son Mimo and in Kannada with Sudeep. This is his first Telugu film under the Damini banner.

"We arrived at the script first and then selected the actors. The entire shoot is taking place in Hyderabad and for two songs we may go to Germany. The release is on January 14," he says.
