Time trails the hand
Ananya Cultural Academy, like it does every year, is back with its thematic calendars related to art and culture. This, which they have been doing for over 11 years, has featured the Jnanpith award winners of Karnataka, visual representations of well-known Kannada poems by artist S.G. Vasudev, legends of Carnatic and Hindustani music, swaramala and ragamala paintings and more.
The calendar for 2006 will have Mudras, a collection of photographs taken by the veteran photo-journalist K.N. Raghavendra Rao.
These photographs were taken at Kalakshetra, Chennai.
The calendar will be released on November 20, at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, 10 a.m. Former director of Kalakshetra Rajaram, veteran dancer Bhanumathi and Dr. U.R. Ananthamurthy will preside over the function.
The release will be followed by a flute ensemble directed by Dr. T.S. Satyavathi, a Bharatanatya recital by Anuradha Vikranth and a group dance, Bharatanjali. The calendar sales proceeds will be directed to Ananya Sangraha. For further details, call 23440409 or email gml1980@vsnl.net
