Kids have a good time

STRIKING Priyanka Chopra was mesmerising

The second edition of POGO Amazing Kids Awards 2005, India's only televised awards event for kids, felicitated the winners of POGO Kids Awards and POGO Voice Awards at the NCPA, Mumbai, last weekend. POGO Kids Awards category recognises the extraordinary achievements of Indian kids across eight categories including art, dance, entertainment, music, leadership, sports, genius and acting. In addition, the POGO voice awards were presented to the kids' contemporary icons and heroes, who were elected based on more than 60,000 votes received from children across the country. The event will be telecast on POGO on December 11, 11 a.m. onwards.

The spectacular event included an adrenalin-rushing performance by Zayed Khan with Shaimak Dawar's junior dance troupe and a hilarious round of poetry by child artist Jay Chiniara. Rahul Vaidya, the popular second runner up of Indian Idol mesmerised the audience with his silken voice while the striking ex-Miss World, Priyanka Chopra danced to the beats of "Mujhse shaadi karoge", "Tinka... tinka" and her popular song "Jine ke hai char din". Other celebrities who graced the occasion were Anu Malik, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Ken Ghosh along with his kids, and child actors — Shreya, Ayesha Kapoor (Black), Shweta Prasad (Iqbal, Makdee), and Smith Seth (Swades).

Ian Diamond, senior officer at the Turner Entertainment Networks said: "POGO Amazing Kids Awards is all about empowering kids - both by recognising their extraordinary accomplishments and by allowing them to exercise their choice by voting for their favourite heroes."
