"Meditation is the technology to understand that there is Divine Power within us and to understand that Power," said Paramahamsa Nithyananda, in his 90-minute lecture, at the Fort Maidan in Vellore on November 19.

The person who experiences the divine power within him and explains the divine power or the universal wonder within the minds of all other human beings through his spiritual knowledge is called `meignani' (spiritualist), while the person who, through his experiments, explains the outer wonders is a `vignani' (scientist).

Swamy Nithyananda, founder of Dhyanapeetam in Nithyanandapuri, Kallugopalahalli in Bidadi in Karnataka, said all religious scriptures teach the basic tenet, namely the Truth. Only the path of realising this divine Truth varies. "If we ignore them, we will not be able to practically benefit from them."

Inner inspiration

Mere acquisition of knowledge about the divine preachings would be a ritual until they lead to an inner inspiration to the mankind to follow them in their daily lives. The swamiji attributed the problems and mental disturbances faced by men and women to their tendency to ruminate the past and worry about the future, without concentrating on the present.

Swamy Nithyananda cited the results of scientific research abroad which went on to prove that the thoughts of man affected the surrounding environment. The tsunamis are nothing but the result of wicked thoughts and the terrorism around. So, good thoughts are necessary to ensure peace around us, he said. And this external peace cannot be attained without a change of mind. "Our thoughts should be clean and sweet. Only then we can protect Nature. External peace cannot come through social revolution, but only through a resurgence in the individual," he said. Sri Balamuruganadimai of the Sri Balamurugan Temple, Ratnagiri, released a Digital Video Disc (DVD) on Swamy Nithyananda's speeches in the United States, which was received by K. M. Khader Mohideen, Vellore MP. Sri Sachidananda Swamigal of Kamalakanni Adheenam, Kalavai released the book, "Dhyanam: Gnanathin Thiravukol'' written by Swamy Nithyananda. C. Gnanasekharan, Vellore MLA, received the first copy.
