The vocal recital by Manda Sundharani last Wednesday was, as usual, marked with ingenuity and impeccable technique. The concert was performed for Visakha Music and Dance Academy in its auditorium, Kalabharati, .
She drew repeated applause from musicians and others in the audience. Her renowned guru, violinist Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao, accompanied her well with the instrument.Mridangist of international repute, Vankayala Venkataramana Murty, and young ghatam player Mangalagiri Sridhar also lent good support.
Maintaining a perfectly tuneful note from the word go, starting with the Sriraga Varnam, Sudha maintained the tempo by rendering Sri Parvathi Parameswaram of Dikshitar (Bowli), Telisi Ramachintanatho of Tyagaraja (Purnachandrika) adorned with a brief essay of ragam, Manasa Mana Saamardhyamemi also of Tyagaraja (Vardhani) adorned with aalapana and swarakalpana in more detail followed by Devadevam Bhajeham of Annamayya (Hindolam) and Dorakuna Ituvantiseva of Tyagaraja (Bilhari) in the first part of her concert.
The second part featured rendition of aalapana of Varali followed with tanam and pallavi, Varaalicchi Brovave Varaali Veni Sarvani Madhuravani Veenapani in Aditalam in Chaturasra gathi. Sudha concluded with a scintillating tillana.
