Mrs. YGP turns 80
PSBB Alumni has organised a function to mark the 80th birthday of Mrs. Y. G. Parthasarathy, Dean and Director, PSBB Group of Schools, on November 26 (5 p.m.) at AVM Rajeswari Kalyana Mandapam. M. S. Swaminathan, Cho Ramaswamy, N. Ram and G. Ramkumar will offer felicitations. The biography of Mrs. YGP, written by Lakshmi Devnath will be released on the occasion.
Bharat Kalachar is also celebrating the occasion on November 27. The events begin at 4.15 p.m. at the Music Academy. The fare, drawn meticulously, comprises items that are favourites of Mrs. YGP.
This includes "Krishna Nee Begane" presented by Gayathri Girish and Mahanadi Shobana for which Meenakshi Chittaranjan, Urmila Satyanarayanan, Uma Muralikrishnan, Gopika Verma and Aishwarya Dhanush will dance, the tillana from `Tillana Mohanambal' (Y. Gee. Mahendra playing the mridangam), `Neela Vanna Kanna Vaada' (Kalpana Raghavendar), `Adaram Maduram' (dance by Lata and Gita) and `Kalinga Nardhanam' (Chitrambari, Nandhini and Shobana) will be presented.
Yuva Kala Bharathis and other eminent artistes of Bharat Kalachar will present a cultural feast.
The famous dance song from the film ``Vanjikottai Vaaliban" and the Navarathri therukoothu song will be presented by Madhuvanti Arun and Saraswathi Krishakumar.
A skit by Raadhu in which Mahendra, Sudha Mahendra, ARS and Suppini is also on the agenda. Felicitations will follow the cultural programme.
