Nutshell

Violin Arangetram

Master V. Dhilip Krishna, disciple of VSK Chakrapani, presented his violin arangetram at the Delhi Tamil Sangam auditorium this past week.

Dance Performances

Sanjeev Bhattacharya, disciple of Guru Bipin Singh, Darshana Jhaveri and Kalavati Devi, presented a Manipuri recital at the Habitat Centre and Uttara Rao presented a Bhratanatyam dance recital at Pragati Maidan's Shakuntalam Theatre. Besides Prathibha Prahlad, an eminent Bharatanatyam exponent, presented a dance recital at Ryan International School, Gurgaon.

Art Exhibitions

The Art exhibitions that were on view recently included Prem Singh's paintings, inspired by nature, at the Visual Arts Gallery; Exhibition of prints and artifacts by Touchwood at the Convention Foyer of the Habitat Centre; Gallery Sanskriti's exhibition of drawing and watercolour by Society of contemporary artistes at the Open Palm Court; Ashok and Somburu's exhibition at the Habiart Gallery; Exhibition of paintings by Ajay Luthra, Kuber Dudtt and Roop Chand at Gallery Today at Bank Street, Karol Bagh; an exhibition of surreal perspectives by Surya Chetan "Levitation" at Gallery Habiart.

Spic-Macay

In the ongoing Virasat-2005, Spic-Macay organised a cultural programme `Music in the Park' at Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri. Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt along with his son Salil Bhatt and tabla player Ramkumar Mishra performed. Pandit Vishwamohan also presented a lori `Jhoola Jhulau, Lori Sunaaoo....' in the memory of his late mother.

Naquab in Delhi

"Naquab", a 65-minute long Urdu play, based on the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, was staged at the Hamdard University near Batra Hospital the other day.
