Preserving a tradition
From the time it was set up in 1981, Nrityakalamandiram has been promoting Bharatanatya with dedication, professionalism and excellence. The institute has been preserving the pristine classical tradition developed by the greats - K.N. Dandayuthapani Pillai, K. Venkatalakshamma and Kalanidhi Narayan - through the work of B. Bhanumati, who has been fortunate to learn from these personalities. The institute, now headed by Bhanumati, is celebrating its silver jubilee this December and will hold year-long celebrations through 2006. The celebrations will be inaugurated at the Ravindra Kalakshetra by Governor T.N. Chaturvedi on December 10, 6.30 p.m. The institute will felicitate G. Raj Narayan, Chief Mentor, Radel Electronics, followed by a Kathak recital by Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj and Bharatanatya recital by Bharatanjali ensemble, Nrityakalamandiram. The celebrations on December 11 will be held at JSS Auditorium, I Main, 8th Block, Jayanagar beginning 6.30 p.m.
