Vijay talks to his fans

S. R. ASHOK KUMAR

In a live session, Vijay, in Chennai, converses with his fans watching `Sivakasi' in Coimbatore.

DIALOGUE OF A DIFFERENT KIND: Vijay in the Kalasa Studio.

It was a live interactive session between actor Vijay and the audience at KG Rangam theatre, Coimbatore. And it was organised by Kalasa. But Vijay was in the Chennai studio of Kalasa and not in Coimbatore. On April 14, the KG Rangam theatre went digital along with Kalasa's DSR digital cinema format, with India's first Panasonic 7700 DLP digital cinema projector and Kalasa's DSR digital cinema server.

The inaugural film after the installation was Rajnikanth's "Chandramukhi." Then came "Anniyan," "Kalluriyin Kathai" and now "Sivakasi" is being screened.

Vijay began the session with a question to the audience. How is "Sivakasi"?

(Amidst applause and screams) "Super."

Then the audience takes over:

What is your next film and when will it be released?

"Athi" is slated for Pongal.

Who is your favourite sports personality?

Tennis ace Pete Sampras

Which is your favourite scene in "Sivakasi" ?

The scene where I meet my mother and sister.

What will you do if you become our Prime Minister?

I do not understand politics. So the question does not arise.

In Tamil you have acted as a lawyer; when will you act as a police officer?

Very soon. A story is in the making.

What is your goal in life?

You have given me a special position. I want to maintain and preserve it.

(When a fan asked Vijay to sing, he obliged and sang a few lines of "Kodambakkam Area" from "Sivakasi.")

How do you feel about meeting us directly?

I am happy that I can see you in Coimbatore.

I thank Kalasa for this wonderful innovation that allows me to interact directly with viewers far away.
