`Chotu Sarkar' has arrived...
THE TROUBLED SOUL This "chicken Little" (Voice zach braff)always finds himself in some mess.
The children of the Capital will have some good news this Christmas. The "Chicken Little", Disney's first home-grown computer animated film, is releasing This Friday across Delhi. It is dubbed in Hindi as "Chotu Sarkar". Earlier, kids enjoyed other English animated films dubbed in Hindi as "The Incredibles" ("Hum Hai Lajawab") and "Finding Nemo" both in collaboration with the Walt Disney and Pixer Animations. Now those children who cannot identify themselves with the accented English of these animated films, and had to be satisfied with only visuals, will be able to relish them. If one remembers, "Finding Nemo" had lots of regional dialects. It was a story of the a little fish Nemo who was lost from his coral reef home and his father was out to find him inside waters.
"Chotu Sarkar" is all about a very cute, bespectacled chicken that takes upon himself the task of proving himself worthy of people's attention by doing something that may belie his undersized stature. And this, he wants to do for two reasons; to match his popularity with his elder brother who is a people's person and two, to compensate for his mistake when he shouted, `The sky is falling', which created mass hysteria and chaos when he mistook a ball of mass coming down from above as sky falling. There are other characters as friends of the chicken - an unsightly duckling, a pig, a fish out of water wearing helmet, a huge chicken, dad of the little chicken and more. The film is directed by Mark Dindal and a host of other script writers as Robert L. Baird, Steve Bencich, Ron J. Friedman, and Dan Gerson.
By now, the kids know that Shah Rukh Khan dubbed for "The Incredibles". Way back in 1993-94, Disney's first animated feature film "Alladin" was dubbed and released in Hindi. A few know that Sonu Nigam, who was then struggling to make a career in singing, dubbed for the lead character Alladin, though initially Aamir Khan was considered for it. On Doordarshan, in Disney Hour "Talespin" was also shown in the dubbed Hindi version. Then the voice of the Donald was of Vinay Nadkarni while Javed Jaffrey dubbed for Mickey as well as Sher Khan.
So now, not only kids may get to see some more dubbed English animation films but also may find some noted film actors dubbing in Hindi. King Khan has made a beginning!
