Happy experience

M.L. NARASIMHAM

A. Karunakaran directs Allu Arjun in this breezy entertainer.

BUBBLY YOUNGSTERS Arjun and Genelia breathe life into an ardinary love story.

Watching him on the sets of Geetha Arts, Happy, one feels that in many ways the screen characters he played are very much him - breezy, chirpy, a prankster and fun-loving youngster with that innocent boy-next door looks. Allu Arjun, the most successful among the current crop of young heroes has all these qualities plus the dedication inherited from grandfather Allu Ramalingaiah. The actor with three hits in a row is shooting for the climax scenes at the Seven-Acre plot in Annapurna Studios.

At the police station set cinematographer R.D. Rajasekhar and director A. Karunakaran are engaged in deep conversation. Spotted at the location are - besides - Arjun, heroine Genelia D'Souza, Manoj Bajpai, Deepak Shirke of Sircar fame and up and coming Kannada actor Kishore, who is making his debut in Telugu as a villain .

Rajasekhar gets behind the camera as the director calls the shot. The ace cinematographer's work in the recent hit, Gazini won much appreciation.

"The story may look ordinary but it is the screenplay that gives a new vision and breathes life into this love story," says co-director Nandagopal . The actors are still busy trying to give the required emotions for the scene as shown to them by the

Genelia

director just before the take. "It is an entertaining love story, a pucca family entertainer. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music, one of his best works, a medley of melody and beat. Seetharama Sastry, Chandra Bose and Pothula Ravi wrote the lyrics. The audio cassettes will be released on Christmas Day."

As the camera focuses on him Arjun smiles and delivers his dialogue. That reminds us of the fact that he is working for his fourth film. Incidentally, Pawan Kalyan's fourth film, Toliprema was made by the same director. In a sentiment-driven industry, will this factor work?

Happy has all the ingredients of a commercial grosser," answers Nandagopal.

Produced by Allu Aravind the movie has Brahmanandam, Thanikella Bharani, Venumadhav, Ramaprabha and Jahnavi in pivotal roles with fights composed by Vijay and edited by Anthony. The film is slated for January 14 release.
