There are many ardent television buffs who prefer spending New Year's eve in front of the small screen to hectic partying. To cater to all those dedicated fans, the channels have come out with a wide range of programmes that is meant to appeal to all age groups.
Asianet, Asianet Plus and Asianet News have a special package that includes interview, special guests and musical programmes.
Asianet
Veteran music composer Dakshinamurthy will participate in `Suprabatham.' Danseuse and actor Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will enliven `Chitrajhaalam,' while Kalabhavan Mani and friends are all set to make it a memorable evening for viewers.
`Danny Varum, Varathierikila,' `Manathe Poothingal,' and `Violin' are some of the telefilms that will be telecast on December 31. The concluding part of livewire Rekha's interview of Asin is another programme to watch out for.
Usher in the New Year with `The Dance Party,' which will be telecast at 11.05 p.m. Anuradha Sriram, Jassie Gift, Sayonara, Vijay Jesudas and Franco are some of the playback singers who will join you on Asianet.

On January 1, tune in to watch the superhit `4 the People' at 3.30 p.m. Since it is a Sunday, viewers can begin the day with a live `Suprabatham,' in which many stars will also join to wish you all a happy new year. Watch the top bureaucrats turn into singers. Film star Jairam will prove his musical prowess on `Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa' while a live `Nammal Thammil' promises to provide infotainment.
Asianet Plus will come alive with stars and singers participating in interviews, game shows and interactive events. Asianet News will have a round-up of the main events of the year. This will include films, music and people who were in the headlines.

On Surya TV, the programmes on January 1 begin with a bhajan recital by playback singer Gayathri. The films that would be telcast include Mohanlal's `Balettan' at 11 a.m. and Pattalam at 3.30 p.m.
The Minister for Culture, A.P. Anilkumar, will be the special guest on `Ponpulari' at 7 a.m. At 10 a.m., tune in to watch Lal Jose discuss his latest film `Achenuraganthu Veedu.' Want to know the stars on the campus. Watch `Ishta tharangal,' at 10.30 a.m., a discussion amongst youngsters on who is in on the campus. A round-up of the hits and flops of 2005 will bbe the subject that will be taken up in `Cinema 2005' at 2.30 p.m.
Actor Jayasurya will chat with viewers in `Hello Jayasurya' at 3 p.m.
For music buffs, there is `Malayalathinte Ravindra Sangeetham' at 9. 30 p.m. This episode will feature K.J. Jesudas and K.S. Chitra.
Kairali
Kairali has two new mega serials for its viewers. `Priyam,' which will be telecast on weekdays at 7.30 p.m. and `Mandaram' at 8 p.m. will go on the air from January 2.
`Priyam's story centres on a young woman and her mysterious and baffling journeys into the past. Mulloth Ramachandran's daughter, four-year-old Aruna Ramachandran goes missing during a temple festival. It is believed that an elephant that ran amok during the festival had killed her. Twenty years later, an accident victim says that she is Aruna Ramachadran.
`Mandara,' is from the makers of the popular serial `Megham.' A chance meeting between Avinash and Gopika flowers into a deeper relationship. The story traces the ups and downs of this couple as they try to sort out the misunderstandings that threaten to separate them.
