Music Recitals

Raj Kumar Misra, heir to the heritage of the Jaipur Gharana of tabla and Kathak, disciple of Pt. Shankar ghosh and Chandrima Misra, disciple of Ustad Munnawar Ali Khan of the Patiala gharana and Sanjuka Ghosh, presented a tabla and a Hindustani classical music recital earlier this week at the Habitat Centre. The Centre also witnessed a Hindustani Classical mandolin recital by Sugato Bhaduri, disciple of the renowned sarod artiste, Pt. Tejendranarayan Majumdar. Tabla accompaniment was by Subhash Nirwan.

Dance Performance

Anurekha Ghosh and Company presented at the India Habitat Centre,"Ruins", an inter-disciplinary production, combining classical and contemporary Kathak dance, in collaboration with two celebrated choreographers Kumudini Lakhia (India) and Shobana Jeyasingh (UK).

Annual Satsang

Shri Sachidanand Sakshi Satsang Mandal held its annual Satsang that ended with a special event, a dance-drama ballet on "Shri Rama: A Paragon of Divine Principle", depicting the life and teachings of the Lord. It was a team effort of more than 40 people from regular walks of life.

Art Exhibitions

The exhibitions that were on view recently included "Shades", an exhibition of paintings by the mother and son duo of Geetanjali Jetley and Rhishabh Jetley and Rashmi Agarwaland Tarang Agarwal at the Habiart Gallery; recent works by Sumedh Rajendran at Vadhera Art Gallery; retrospective of Sakti Burman at the Habitat Centre; "Tribal Transitions" by the British Council; recent paintings by Chgippa Sudhakar at Gallerie Ganesha; and Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery's "Mapping The South" at the Lalit Kala
