Ramana jayanthi
As part of Sri Ramana Maharishi's 126th jayanthi celebrations, Devaparayanam and Aksharamalai parayanam will be conducted on Jan. 7, 6 p.m. at Chakkarai Amman Koil, Thiruvanmiyur. P. Thyagarajan will recite poetry at 7.10 p.m. On Jan. 8, there will be a procession at 8 a.m. which will conclude at Ayodhya Mandapam, W. Mambalam and `Thiruvandappagudhi' will be released by A. P. N. Paramasivam at 6.40 p.m.
Annual Snan yatra
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, Chennai will be conducting its 24th Annual Snan yatra on January 1 at the ISKCON temple, Injambakkam. Bhajans will be conducted at 11 a.m. and Bhanu Swami Maharaj will be giving a lecture at 12 noon.
Symposium
Tapasya and The Mangala Initiative have organised a two-day symposium — memory, modernity and murai from December 29 at The New Woodlands Hotel, Mylapore. On December 30, rare compositions of the Thanjavur Quartet will be rendered by Pandallur M. Gopalakrishnan and K. Chandrasekar (10 a.m.), padams and javalis by Shyamala Mohanraj (11.45 a.m.) and dance on Thanjavur Quartet's compositions by Hari Krishnan and Vidya Narayanan (6.30 p.m.)
