Anniversary decennial function

VDS Arts Academy celebrated its tenth anniversary decennial function on December 21 at the M. O. P. Vaishnav College for Women, Nungambakkam. P. Haridas, secretary of the College, who was the chief guest, honoured the best gurus selected by the academy for the year 2005 — Padma Chandilyan for vocal, M. Chandrasekaran for violin, Guruvayoor Durai for Mridangam and Sheela Unnikrishnan for Bharatanatyam.

He also distributed prizes to VAA top ten winners of the year 2005 — K. Bharathsundar (vocal first prize-radel sparshini thambura with `Bala Baskara' award); K. Dharini (vocal second); Kasturi Kamal Deepthi (vocal third); K. P. Nandhini (violin first prize); B. Srivatsan (mridangam first prize); Deepa Srinath (dance first prize); Dhivya Malayappan (dance second); Nirmala Prasad, M. O. P. Vaishnav College, distributed about 26 medals and 64 mementos to the young musicians.
