Music Recital

Shobhana Rao presented an evening of ghazals and thumris at the Habitat Centre early this week.

Dance Programme

Harish Gangani, disciple of Pt. Rajendra Gangani presented a Kathak dance performance. He was accompanied by Akram Khan on tabla, Yogesh Gangani (padant & pakhawaj), Vijay Parihar (vocal) and Kamal Ahmad on the sarangi.

Art Exhibitions

The art exhibitions that concluded recently in the Capital included an exhibition of paintings in oil by Ilya Komov from Russia at the IIC; Apparao Galleries' exhibition titled "Neo Realism" at the Triveni; painting exhibition by the multi-faceted artist, Haku Shah, also at the Triveni; exhibition of recent paintings of Nusrat Khan, Amichand and Dilawar Khan at Gallery Antahrang; Kumar Gallery's "Spirit Set Free", a mega show by 54 masters of Indian Contemporary Art at its gallery in Sunder Nagar; "Mute Dialogues", an unusual visual journey of paintings and photographs at the Habiart Gallery.

Konkani Films

A festival of award winning Konkani films was organised by the India International Centre. The films screened included Chandrakant Barve's Satya Sparsh, Rajendra Talak's Aleesha and Shitu.

Zia Mohyeddin

The well known actor, director and broadcaster, Zia Mohyeddin, from Pakistan, read from Mirza Ghalib, Premchand, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Sajjad Zaheer and other classical works at the IIC auditorium early this week. The programme was organised in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi.
