Tribute to a doyen

An evening of music in memory of Prakash Wadhera

Time, they say, heals all wounds. Yet the void is seldom filled. A year has passed since Prakash Wadhera, noted music critic and Hindustani flautist, left the mortal coil. But musicians, art lovers and his readers have not stopped missing the genial old gentleman whose words carried not only reams of information, but also criticism tempered with compassion. What was perhaps best of all, his comments were steeped in the sheer joy of musical enjoyment.

He exemplified the anand, the bliss conferred on those born with the ability to savour the arts.

That bliss lasts foreverthough life does not. What better way to perpetuate his memory than by presenting a musical evening?

This coming Monday at 6 p.m. the Triveni auditorium will see a gathering of his admirers.

The highlights of the evening will be a vocal music concert by Shanti Sharma and a Hindustani flute recital by Kailash Sharma.
