PEACE PRAYER The homam in progress
Sri Abhaya Anjaneya Trust, led by its president Yanamandra Subrahmanyam, organised Hanumath Homam and kalyanam at Sankaramatham in Visakhapatnam last week. The Trust had earlier carried out the ritual in various towns and cities, including Hyderabad, for the common good of the society.
A large number of people from all walks of life thronged the venue from the early hours to participate in mantapaaraadhana, manyusooktha-abhishekam, manusookatha homam and puja, which were performed from 8 a.m. The puja concluded with lunch being served to all who were present there.
Later in the evening, a sabha was held with president of the Matham Lanka Jagannadham in the chair, in which noted singer Palagummi Padmaraju and former AU Telugu Professor K. Malayavasini were felicitated. Audio cassettes of the Hanumathprabha grandham of Panthula Lakshminarayana Sastry were also released by IT Commissioner Narasappa on the occasion. Praja Spandana founder C.S. Rao and Executive Committee members of the Matham, Y. Venkata Rama Murthy, J.S. Subrahamanyam, Sivudu Satyanarayana, Susarla Suryanarayana Murthy, Kandala Srinivasa Rao, T.V.S.R.K. Kanaka Raju and Visakha Kumari, led the different rituals.
This was followed by a Saastra goshti in Sanskrit in the forenoon and Telugu in the evening under the aegis of the Matham. Initiated by Sarvagna Sekhara, Appalla Someswara Sarma, it was evocative and educative. An interactive session involving Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry (Hyderabad), Goda Venkateswara Sastry (Chennai), Orugnati Ramalala Sastry (Tirupathi), Remella Ramakrishna Sastry (Bhimavaram), Maddulapalli Dattatreya Sastry (Visakha), Viswanatha Gopala Krishna Sastry, Kompella Satayanarayana Sastry and Chirravuru Srirama Sastry (Rajahmundry), was also held on the occasion. The sabha was presided over by Lanka Jagannadham while Kandala Srinivasa Rao compered the programme.
