All about campus friendship

S. R. ASHOK KUMAR.

`Manadhodu Mazhaikalam" captures youth in college ambience.

WITH A TOUCH OF ROMANCE: Manadhodu Mazhaikalam.

The place near Jain College was full of young people — colourfully dressed girls and jean-clad boys — occupying whatever little space they could find. Shooting was in progress for ELK Productions' ``Manadhodu Mazhaikalam" and director Arputhan was giving instruction to cameraman Ragav about angles.

A campus story with an interesting twist in the climax — that is how the director summed it up. "One would have seen various types of college stories told in Tamil. This is all about the friendship among Shyam, Shamiksha and Nithyadas," he elaborated.

Highlights

It was Shyam who touched on the highlights. "One is the script. Arputhan has done his homework in a meticulous way and this film is certainly going to be different as far as the climax is concerned.

"I can say that friendship has been redefined and the characters of Nithyadas and Shamiksha are going to make a great impact.

"Romance? Yes, there is, but I'll not say more. All my recent films have had the music of Harris Jayaraj. But here Karthik Raja has given mind blowing songs which will certainly make the audience dance to his tunes," he said with great enthusiasm.

The film was shot in Chennai and Chalakudi. Arputhan added that a song was picturised at the Athirampalli falls where Samiksha and Shyam danced to the steps of Nobel, the dance master. "The location is a beauty. It is amazing, the number of enchanting spots Tamil Nadu has, yet to be explored. We loved the experience. The falls and the greenery make it so picturesque."

The film is produced by Antony and the director, who also has written the screenplay and dialogue, says he is fortunate to get the services of some of the best technicians in the field — Raja Mohamad (editing) and Guna are taking care of the stunts. Lyrics have been written by Na. Muthukumar.
