An ideal music fest

Participants at the Thyagaraja Aradhana Sangeetotsavam included many from foreign nations.

The Sangeeta Sanmandali of Vijayawada conducted the annual Thyagaraja Aradhana Sangeetotsavam recently. This association was formed by a group of musicians in 1995 and since its inception, the seven day music festival has gradually gained popularity and has become the most eagerly awaited musical feast every year in January.

Artistes, connoisseurs and music lovers from all over the state and even outside it, some as far as other countries gathered in large numbers. The Sangeeta Sanmandali is known for its punctuality and discipline withoutcompromising in any aspect of the festival. One is convinced that the organisers have successfully recreated the atmosphere of the national event at Tirivaiyaru on the banks of the river Kaveri.

This year's festival, conducted from January 16 to January 22,attracted many participants who bore the expenses themselves The Sanmandali provides free boarding and lodging on all days for the visiting artistes. More than 200 musicians participated in this year's festival, paying homage to the great saint musician Thyagaraja Swamy. The festival was conducted at the spacious and ideal venue of Gokaraju Laila Gangaraju Kala Vedika situated in the premises of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government College of Music and Dance.
