Silver jubilee celebrations

Acharya Madhwa and the beautiful idol of Lord Krishna installed by him have made Udupi, a cynosure for pilgrims. Its radiance has spread all over India, thanks to the tireless efforts of the eight seers of Udupi. Notable among them is Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Shri Pejavar Adhokshaja Mutt, Udupi. He comes in the lineage of Adhokshaja Theertha, a direct disciple of Acharya Madhva. He has a great Guru Parampara-Kamalaksha, Vijayadhwaja, Visveswara, Viswapathi and Viswamanya Theerthas. He took the initiative to renovate the Krishna Mutt at Udupi. Also thanks to his efforts, the Badagumalige, Kanaka Mantapa and Rajangana have been refurbished.
Venkataramana was the son of Narayanacharya and Kamalamma. Second child of his parents, he was born on April 27, 1931 in Ramakunja, a village near Udipi. He became a sanyasi when he was seven years and seven months old on December 3, 1938, at Yanthroddharaka Mukhya Pranadevaru temple at Humpi. Venkataramana became Vishwesa Theertha. Even before he was eight he became a Pitatipati. He was under the tutelage of Adde Vedavyasachar and other great scholars in the beginning and came under the umbrella of Shri Vidyamanya Theertha Swamy.
In 1953, he established the Akhila Bharatha Madhwa Mahamandala (ABMM) to propagate Acharya Madhwa's teachings. Tattvavada, a monthly magazine is published by ABMM.
His thirst for helping the poor who longed to get educated led to establishment of the Poorna Prajna Vidya Peetha at Bangalore in 1956.The Akhila Bharatha Madhwa Mahamandala's Madhwa Philosophical Conference is celebrating its silver jubilee from February 3-6. Amrutha Mahotsava of Sri Swamiji is being celebrated on February 5 at Dharmaprakash. Sri Sushameendra Tirtha Swamiji is inaugurating the conference. For details, contact: 98412-73080/2490 2080.
