Consecration
The Jeernodharana Ashtabandhana Mahakumbabhishekam of the shrines of Navaneetha Krishnan, Siva-Parvathi, Vinayagar, Muruga-Kathyayini and Navagrahas on Lovedale-Kundha Road, Gandhipettai is scheduled to take place on February 10 at 7 a.m. After special pujas and rituals, there will be discourses at 10 a.m. followed by Anna Dhaanam at 12 noon.
Music appreciation course
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore (Ph: 2464 0811) is conducting a music appreciation course from February 17 for two months, with classes of one-and-a-half hours' duration, twice a week (Fridays and Saturdays). The course covers raga, tala, musical forms, musical instruments, kalpita sangeetha, manodharma sangeetha and other Indian forms of music (classical and folk) and also bhajans and devotional music. Aradhana
Tambaram Music Club is celebrating Tyagaraja Aradhana on February 12 at 7 a.m. at Sitadevi Garodia School, East Tambaram. Eminent vidwans will render Pancharatna kritis. Bombay Sisters will be felicitated followed by a violin concert by C. A. Rajashekar and his 30 students. Anusha Pradeep, Kalpana Venkat, Sriram Gangadharan, Bombay Sisters, N. Ramani and A. K. C. Natarajan will also perform.
Award
The Sruti Foundation is presenting the Vellore Gopalachariar Award to S. Rajam on February 10 at 6.45 p.m. at Sri Parvati, Centre for Cultural Activities, Eldams Road. This will be followed by a presentation, `S. Rajam: A Kalaa Kaalakshepam' by V. Sriram. There will be an exhibition of S. Rajam's paintings.
