Pilgrim's progress

Team Conte, a forum that is into preservation of heritage, has created a documentary on Shravanabelagola

Team Conte, a team of storytellers, has created a documentary VCD on the heritage city of Shravanabelagola and is offering "a visual walk through the city". The team says this is an "extremely rare experience of Shravanabelagola".

The visual aids put together spectacular views in the form of a story about the hills housing the Gommateshwara statue and other temples, the people, their culture and life, and the sanctity this pilgrimage city holds.

The project, The Story of Shravanabelagola, was conceptualised by Team Conte to promote and familiarise the place to people at large.

The need was felt to inform the people of the history and significance of Shravanabelagola.

Team Conte has prepared the documentary in line with its philosophy of preserving the tradition and heritage of India through distinctive forms of the media for diverse audiences.

The team narrates the well-researched information on interesting pieces of culture, ethnic philosophies, customs and ways of living "in a manner that appeals to the inner soul of individuals".

The team is "driven to offer an uncommon experience of the places that are considered common".

Team Conte holds that as tourists, "one walks the outer landscape of thoughts, feelings, and sensations".

"By experiencing this most beautiful and sacred land through these creations, the outer landscape of Shravanabelagola touches and nourishes the inner landscape of one's heart and soul," the Team states.

The documentary is available at Shravanabelagola, at the exhibition area.

Heritage map and the VCD are priced at Rs. 350, while only the heritage map is priced at Rs. 99.
