`Seetharamudu', starring Sivaji and Ankita, is a candyfloss love story with a twist.

ROMANTIC RENDEZVOUS A scene from `Seetharamudu'.

The tall high-rise on one side and the clear blue sky that merges with the surging aqua blue sea on the other was just the perfect locale to picturise a song. This is precisely where we spotted the unit of Sri Sambasiva Creations, Seetharamudu, directed by Shyam Prasad. The famous R.K.Beach Road in Visakhapatnam has been the chosen locale for many film shoots earlier. But every time one watches the location on screen, it looks refreshing. When we landed on the sets, choreographer Pradeep Anthony was filming a foot tapping number (composed by Ramana Gogula) with Sivaji and other dancers.

Before commencing the shoot, the director briefed Pradeep on the concept he had in mind for the song. A relaxed Shyam Prasad was watching the shoot on the portable television screen. "We have already completed the talkie part and will be now concentrating on the songs," he informs. The nagara played the song. The hero intently observed at the choreographer to grasp the dance movements.

"This is the introductory song for the hero. We have been shooting this song on different roads - the steel plant road, Bheemli road and other city roads. For the next song, which is a duet involving Sivaji and Ankita, we will be shooting at the Yarada beach, Gangavaram and Red hills," adds Shyam Prasad.

With an unkempt beard, Sivaji sports a rugged look that's in contrast to his usual image. "Sivaji has proved his mettle in family dramas and comedies. In this film, which is a love story, he will be doing some action sequences as well," smiles the director. Elaborating on Sivaji's role, the director says that the hero loves every moment of his life. "An optimist and a generally happy-go-lucky person, he is in search of a job. He happens to chance upon the heroine, who is a fashion technology student, and it's love at first sight. While Sivaji is living with his parents (`Ahuti' Prasad and Kavitha), Ankitha has an elder sister (Hema) and brother-in-law (Surya). When love blossoms, the villain (Rahul Dev) steps in. Here, the story takes a new turn," says the director, refusing to reveal more.

Shyam made his debut with a sublime love story, Mounamelanoyi. "Love stories are my favourites because they have universal appeal." He also has a word of praise for the music director Ramana Gogula, whose compositions for this film are a fusion of the East and the West. The director then has a discussion with Pradeep Anthony and cinematographer Anji.

In the meanwhile, producer Yalamanchi Ravichand tells us, "All the six songs have come out well. We are shooting three songs in Vizag and the remaining will be shot in specially erected sets at the Ramoji Film City." Before Ravichand stepped into film production, he was in charge in the camera department of all of ETV channels. Like the director, it is his second film too. "Last year, I made Siva, which had some kind of a message for the viewers. But Seetharamudu is a pure entertainer. The hero, in this film, is like Lord Rama. But when the need arises, he can take on the avatar of Parasurama. You will see a different Sivaji in this film. The action scenes composed by Ram-Lakshman are novel while the climax fight, choreographed by Vijay, is an edge-of-the-seat thriller."

Ravichand plans to complete the entire shoot by February and release the film in March.
