Music fest
Nayaki is organising its 11th Music Festival at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz, Mylapore. Chief Guest M. Saravanan inaugurates on February 18 at 5.15 p.m. Geetha Rajashekar will light the lamp and Devaki Muthiah, president, Nayaki, will preside. The Nayaki Award and a purse will be conferred on Thanjavur R. Sankara Iyer followed by a violin duet by Ganesh, Kumaresh. The festival is on till February 26.
Discourse series
Sravanam has organised a discourse series, `Sri Venkatesa Suprabatham' on February 20 and 21, and `Triveni Ramayanam' by Jaya Srinivasan from February 22-24 at 6.30 p.m. The venue will be T. T. D. Information Centre, T. Nagar.
Masi Mahotsavam
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Devasthanam, Sholingur and Sri Bakthochitha Swami temple, Cholasimhapuram are celebrating Maasi Uttaraada Mahotsavam till February 25. The Sattumarai will take place on the concluding day. Mangalasasanam will begin at 5 a.m. the same day and Alankara Tirumanjanam will be at 12 noon.
Harikatha
Asthika Samajam (Ph: 2452 1955) is celebrating Tyagaraja Aradhana on February 18 at Sri Tyagaraja Kalyana Mandapam, East Coast Road. Namasankeerthanam will be rendered at 8 a.m. and Pancharatna kritis at 9 a.m. In this connection, the Samajam has organised harikatha programmes at Amarabharathi, 12, West Tank Street, Tiruvanmiyur. Seetha Rajan and disciples will present "Prahlada Bhakthi Vijayam" on February 19, S. Janakiraman "Sri Tyagaraja" and Kovai Jayarama Bhagavathar "Nama Sankeerthanam". All programmes begin at 6.30 p.m.
Ramadas aradhana
Shree Ram Samartha Premi Mandal (Ph: 2650 2003/98845 40135) has organised Sri Samartha Ramadas celebrations from February 17-22 at Selva Rajeswari Hall, No.2, Main Road, Srinivasa Nagar. Pujas and bhajans will be conducted in the mornings and bhajans and namasankeerthanams in the evenings.
Kumbabhishekam
The kumbabhishekam of Anjaneya temple at No. 2, Angalamman Koil Street, Pattalam, is scheduled to take place on February 19 from 10.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m. Festivities and special pujas will be on till February 20.
Group rendition
Sarvani Sangeetha Sabha has organised an exclusive group rendition on the eve of Sivarathri. The songs written by Samavedam Shankukha Sarma, in praise of Lord Siva, will be presented on the occasion to be held at Music Academy Mini Hall on February 18, at 6.15 p.m.
Music festival
A one-day music festival dedicated to Saint Tyagaraja will be organised by Sudharma Foundation (Ph: 55384945) on February 19 at Spring Field Matriculation Higher Secondary School, K. K. Nagar. Disciples of Uma Shankar will render a few kritis of the saint and Utsava Sampradaya kritis will be rendered by Srirangachari with Villivakkam Raghuraman on the violin and P. V. Krishnamachari on the mridangam.
New play
United Amateur Artistes inaugurates its 56th play, "Thanthramukhi" on February 17, 6.30 p.m. at Rani Seethai Hall. The play is a dedication to the veteran actor (late) R. S. Manohar. A portrait of the actor will be unveiled on the occasion.
Silver jubilee
Natyanjali Trust has organised a three-day dance festival and a felicitation programme, as part of their 25th year celebrations, to be held at Mylapore Fine Arts on February 20, 6.15 p.m. The following is the list of awardees : K. J. Sarasa - Natya Kalanidhi; Varsha and Lavanya Sankar - Natya Mayuri. Other artistes who will be given cash awards are G. P. Komala (vocal); Adyar Balu (mridangam); Subbaiah (harmonium) and Sundararaman (make-up).
