HERITAGE COLLECTION: exqusite carving
All India Craft Bazaar, an exhibition of crafts from various States, is being held at the Guild of Service, 18/28, Casa Major Road, Egmore, till February 28, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Seventy artisans are present at the exhibition, which offers 10 per cent discount on handicrafts and 20 per cent on handloom textiles.
Aimed at popularising traditional handicrafts and improving the earnings of artisans, Craft Bazaar's Heritage collection includes textiles, wood carvings, black metal, brass and stone work, Rajasthani, minakari and temple jewellery, 1 gram gold jewellery, Hyderabad pearls, palm leaf engravings, appliqué and stone carvings from Orissa, antiques from Chettinad, a wide range of bags from Gujarat, Kashmiri tops, wooden kitchenware from Haryana, and much more.
Wooden ware from Haryana includes a wooden and gold dial telephone, which they assure, actually works!
