Tyagaraja aradhana

The Indian Fine Arts Society will celebrate Tyagarja aradhana tomorrow (Feb.25) at Balamandir German Hall, T. Nagar. Eminent musicians will render Pancharatna kritis of the saint on the occasion. The festival also features a music concert by Malladi Brothers at 6 p.m.

Kala Kruthi celebrates Tyagaraja aradhana at Anantha Bhushanam Kalyana Mandapam, 118, Gengu Reddy Road, Egmore, (ph: 28190154) on February 26 at 10.30 a.m. Eminent artistes will render Pancharatna kritis of the saint on the occasion.

Annual day

PSN disciples Forum will celebrate their annual day today (Feb.24) at Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz, Mylapore. Flautist N. Ramani and V. V. Srivatsa, secretary, Music Academy, will felicitate musician A. Sundaresan on the occasion. The progamme will also feature music concert of Vijay Siva.

Discourse

In connection with Sivaratri, Vijayalakshmi Rajaram will render a musical discourse in traditional Thevaram style on the life of Appar Swamigal, interspersed with Thevaram songs, on February 24, 6 p.m., at the Tattvaloka auditorium, 76, Eldams Road, Teynampet. Gayatri Girish will give a concert at the same venue the next day (February 25, 6 p.m.).

Consecration

The Kumbabhishekam of Sri Bhaktha Anjaneyar temple, Kottivakkam, Chennai, is scheduled for March 3 between 6 and 7 a.m. The deity of Lord Vijaya Mahaganapathi will also be installed in a new shrine that day. Rituals begin from March 1 and there will be Annadaanam on March 3. The total cost of the project including the construction of Mahamandapam, is estimated at Rs. 15 lakhs. Devotees may send in their contributions in the form of cheques drawn in favour of `Sri Bhaktha Anjaneyar Temple Mahakumbabhishekam Account'.
