RICH CULTURAL FARE: Dance by enthusiastic women.
The Kailasapuram Club at BHEL Township in Tiruchi celebrated International Women's Day by organising various competitions for the members of women's organisations, cultural associations and students.
The women of the township along with other women enthusiasts took active participation in singing, turncoat, food with fire, folk dances, best out of waste, dumb charades, bridal dressing, badminton tournament and so on.
All the competitions received an overwhelming response, with more than 30 women taking part in every event. A large number of residents of the township witnessed all the competitions. Ninety prizes were given away to the winners of the events. Soundarya Rajesh, founder CEO, Avtaar Career Creators, a consulting agency based at Chennai, was the chief guest. She was all praise for the rich cultural fare. The BHEL Township was able to churn out numerous talented students, and all credit should go to their mothers, she added.
Ms. Soundarya was of the view that within a decade or two, women would be employed in 60-80 per cent of the jobs.
This was followed by an interactive session on placement opportunities, in which local women took part.
