Tyagaraja again

As winter edges away from Delhi, the month of January tends to stretch on, as the legendary music composer Tyagaraja, who took samadhi during that month, is remembered in events across the city. Recently it was the turn of the South Indian Sangam, which along with the Sri Ganesh Sewa Samaj of Mayur Vihar Phase II organised the Thyaga Brahma Aradhana and Trinity Sangeetha Mahotsavam at the Ganesh temple premises. Local celebrities like P.B. Kannan, Ananthalakshmi Balasubramaniam, M.G. Swaminathan, Vasantha Sundaram, Radha Venkatachalam featured in the four-day festival. Besides, the organisers left the daytime hours of the festival open to budding talents who volunteered to exhibit their skills. This is a significant part of training and general education.
