ACCOLADE Sadguru Sivananda Murty presents a golden bracelet to Shanmukha Sarma
For 10 days, Gurajada Kalakshetram turned into a sea of humanity as people thronged to get the gist of Sivatatvam delivered for about an hour and half from 7 p.m. by Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma of the Rishi Peetham, Hyderabad. Soundarya Lahari, a socio cultural association, organised it with devout fervour.
Quoting extensively from the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and Ithihasas including many an Aagamakavya on one hand and expounding the intrinsic value of the content in the simplest possible idiom on the other, Sarma manifested a revelation of a about Shiva and His quintessential attribute, the Sivam in its various forms.
Coinciding with the Mahasivaratri fete, scores of couples celebrated the ceremony of Siva-Parvathi Kalyanam under the supervision of Sarma.
The organisers held a felicitation ceremony in honour of Sarma on the last evening with devotional music by noted compere and All-Indian Radio artiste, Suhasini Anand. Devout and dulcet rendering of Ashtapadhis from Gita Sankaram of Anantha Narayana of the 17th century, set to music by her father Palagummi Rajagopal and compositions of Annamayya marked the recital. Later K. Sivananda Murty adorned Sarma with a golden bracelet. Murty hailed Sarma as an epitome of the wisdom in the Vedas and all other ancient literature.
AIR staffer, compere and writer-poet, Rambhatla Nrisimha Sarma, the master of the ceremony, composed the citation and read it out before it was presented to Sarma.
