A nationwide exercise that has its beginning in 2003, is now in the process of completing its fourth year. MTV's hunt for India's youth icon, has just opened its lines for public voting to spot this year's name.

The voting, open till May 22, can be done online by logging on to the channel's website, through SMS to 6882 or 8243 or by dialling 1250-122 or 1250-111-122. The list of nominees has many famous personalities including the usual suspects like cricketer M.S. Dhoni and Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant. In the category of science, there is the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Vikram Raizada, Vice President, Marketing and Communication and Digital, MTV Networks, says, " The nominations have been finalised after a comprehensive 10-city study conducted by the research agency, IMRB." "The event will conclude in June with the announcement of Pepsi & MTV Youth Icon for 2006," he said.
