Urs held

The 59th urs of Qutubul Akhtab Hazrath Hafiz Syed Habeeb Mohamed Hasan Moulana Khadiri Baghdadi (Rah) was held at the Dargah premises on Linghi Chetty Street, Mannady, on May 4.

H. Habibullah Shah, Muthavalli of the Dargah, led the nightlong prayer.

Prominent among the devotees who attended the anniversary celebrations was the Chief Kazi to the Government of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Saluddin Mohammed Ayub.

After the regular prayers — zikhr, salaam, maulood and fatiha — a special prayer was also conducted for communal harmony and universal brotherhood.

The saint who happens to be the 31st descendant of Prophet Mohammed (Sal) came to India to spread Islam, and chose Chennai as his final resting place.
