LAWLEY ROAD on DD-1, Wednesday, 20.30.

Stay tuned to watch a whole set of new episodes of `Malgudi Days' being telecast on DD-1 from April 26 at 8.30 p.m. Spread over 15 episodes the short by R. K. Narayan is aired on Wednesdays.

This week's episode on May 17 will carry the second part of "Lawley Road."

This is a charming story, set in post-Independent India that begins with the portrayal of an endearing character, who is a chatterbox. The talkative man recollects how he owned a house in the New Extension Layout in Malgudi despite being a freelance journalist with a meagre income. The story... A blanket seller, who used to sell the product to the British, wins the election and becomes the Municipality chairman.

As soon as he takes charge, the new chairman tries to do things that will earn him fame. His ambition, which indirectly helped the talkative man own a house, leads to a number of hilarious incidents.
