TALENTED DANCER: Arathy Sudhakaran.
She proved she has talent and that she was a promising dancer of her generation. Fourteen-year-old Arathy Sudhakaran, who is under the tutelage of Natanabhushanam Jiji Suresh, presented a Kuchipudi recital at Vyloppilly Samskriti Bhavan.
A traditional performance
Arathy began her performance with a traditional Pushpanjali, in Ragamalika set to Adi tala. This was followed by a tharangam, the main item of a Kuchipudi recital. Also set to Ragamalika and Adi tala, this item was interspersed with two episodes from Lord Krishna's life.
The first part `Nari vasanapahari' showed a mischievous Krishna and thesecond part `Nari vasanopahari' narrated Krishna's compassion towards Draupadi. Arathy along with Krishna and Parvathy, two other disciples of her guru, presented `Sadhimchane' in raga Arabhi and Adi tala. The three of them excelled in this Pancharatna kriti by Tyagaraga that provided ample scope for them to perform with tala and bhava.
Jiji Suresh came next with the famous `Mahadeva Shivasambo' in raga Revathy and Adi tala.The group concluded with a thillana of Swati Tirunal, in raga Dhaneshri and Adi tala.
