Dance Programmes
Contemporary dancer and choreographer, Sangeeta Sharma, presented `Behati Ganga', a choreography highlighting the world of woman - within and around her - at the Habitat Centre this past Friday. She was accompanied by senior dancers of Bhoomika, Meenakshi Chopra and Shubro Ghosh. Earlier this week, Ganesa Natyalaya presented a Bharatanatyam recital by Srividvatha Sridhar, disciple of Saroja Vaidyanathan, at Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurgaon.
Music Recitals
While students of Rabi Geetika presented Rabindra Sangeeta Surantar-Rupantar (to celebrate Rabindra Jayanti), Raagranjini presented Hindustani vocal recital by Uma Garg, a light classical vocal by Jaya Samaddar and tabla by Soumitra Paul at the Habitat Centre. Besides the Centre also hosted `Yaadgar Bandishen' by Neeta Soorma, disciple of Savita Devi. This concert was devoted to the great maestros of Indian classical music. Meanwhile, Young Anirudh Bharadwaj, a student of Class VII and barely 12 years old, presented a solo flute recital at Delhi Tamil Sangam this past Saturday. The IIC also featured a flute recital, by Susim Kumar Mallik (Senia Maihar Gharana) from Lucknow, disciple of the late Ustad Bahadur Khan, Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and later Ashis Khan. As part of the ongoing Madhya Pradesh Festival at the IIC, Meeta Pandit (Gwalior Gharana), granddaughter of Pt. Krishnarao Pandit and daughter of Pt. Laxmanrao Pandit presented a Hindustani classical vocal recital. She was accompanied by Supreet Deshpande (tabla) and Sarwar Hussain Khan (sarangi).
