The BSNL Sports Quiz Team is planning a series of special programmes, to be aired on Podhigai TV, with the focus on the World Cup Football and interesting prizes to be won.
In addition, there are also plans for a grand special to be telecast on July 2, in which viewers would be invited to participate and win prizes. With the 2006 World Cup Football Tournament commencing, the show has completed four successful years.
Viewers from all over the country and abroad participate via phone, SMS and e-mail during the hour-long live programme. The Picture Board format, which was introduced in 2005, proved very popular with the viewers getting to choose the number of the question they wished to answer.
The callers, who do not know Tamil, are also encouraged to participate by displaying the questions with an English caption. The show also has callers from abroad. The e-mail contest that the show runs receives over a thousand entries every week and the SMS contest also receives a huge response. Anchored by Dr. Sumanth C. Who will be the Gold winner?
Just one SMS will earn the sender a bagful of Gold worth Rs. One Lakh. "Vasool Rani," the game show being aired on Vijay TV on weekdays at 21.00, holds a unique contest, "Kodayil Oru Thanga Mazhai," for the homemakers who can win gold if they give correct answers for questions asked during the show.
The contest is already on from June 5. It concludes on June 22. It is a multi-level quiz, wherein the contestants should answer three questions daily through SMS, by sending VR to 7827. For every correct answer , the contestant wins 100 points and for every wrong answer the contestant loses 100 points.
This apart, a bonus question is asked during the show. The contestant, who gives the correct answer, gets 300 points and loses the same for a wrong answer. The contestant with the highest points gets to take home gold jewellery worth Rs. One lakh. The next two highest scorers would each take home gold jewellery worth Rs. 40,000.
