FIRST CUT Ethisri and Santhosh Pawan in a still from the film.
"It's a tie between the heart and the mind, between the young ones and the elders. The way the ball rolls from this point, tells the course of the central
theme, a pure love story," says debut director Ravitheja (original name Ravithejas) on the sets of K. K. Enterprises', Ramalayam Veedhilo Balu, Madhumathi produced by K. S. Srinivasa Rao and P. Vasu. He is monitoring a sizzling item number being shot on Divyasri, the latest item girl to descend from Mumbai, a host of group dancers and hero Santhosh Pawan.
Debut choreographer Kalyan has a brief discussion with the director before he moves towards the actors. The peppy number Gunturu center lo nenu... is played followed by brisk gyrations of the actors to the tune composed by debut music director Kishen. With that block from the song, the entire shoot will be completed and every one is in a hurry to do their job fast. "It is part of an introductory scene of the hero. The song is mainly aimed at the masses," smiles the director but feels that "every class of audience will be able to appreciate it."
Boy-meets-girl story
Amidst the din and buzz and the busy schedule as he takes personal interest in every branch of film-making, it was difficult for him to find time to
explain the nuances of his launch vehicle. So after a couple of days he invites us to Prakash dubbing theatre in Kamalapuri Colony. "Now we are into post-production shuttling between Ramoji Film City where we are doing the graphics and DTS mixing while dubbing work is done here," he smiles. An associate of director G. Nageswara Reddy, Ravitheja has done a stint as an assistant with Muppalaneni Siva too. "Nageswara Reddy is my guru in this field," he says. "Like him I am fond of youthful love stories. So here I am making one," he smiles.
"The hero is a college student, son of a rich man and an ex-MLA (played by Suman) and a doting mother (Hema). His father loves him so much that he is prepared to do anything for him. The boy knows only the luxuries of life. With such an environment he turns to be naturally a happy-go-lucky youngster who is rough and tough at the same time. A spoilt brat till he meets a girl and sets a goal to achieve.
"The heroine (Ethisri debutante from Mumbai) is the daughter of an MRO (played by music director Raj). Kavitha plays the role of her mother. The story is set in Guntur where we shot the entire talkie portions. Though the hero and the heroine live in the same colony it is an unexpected incident that paves the way for their friendship. But when he proposes she is undecided. The heroine's father views a different future for his daughter.
By now the boy has decided that she is the girl for him and he knows she too nurtures a liking for him.
And the story takes a curious turn from this point. The message is that - what would the elders achieve by separating the young ones? Ultimately it is love that triumphs."
Like in all love stories, music plays an important role in his film too says the director.
"The six songs were shot in Hyderabad. Three of them at RFC and one at the recently opened Deccan Park gardens near Golconda Tombs. Ours is the first unit to shoot at this location."
The producers are planning to release this pristine pure love story next month.
