Prasad EFX was the scene of action as `Krrish' got ready. What exactly happened there?
|
THE CREW: Hrithik Roshan with Craig Mumma and the Prasad EFX technical team, in Chennai.
"Krrish" is all about the technology referred to as VFX, simply meaning visual effects. Now how has it been deployed in the film?
Himakumar, Senior Line Producer, Prasad EFX, says, "We have done very sophisticated 3D models and animation including whole body scans. Innumerable 3D replicas of cars, bikes, helicopter, birds and animals were created and animated to match live action footage.
Fire sequences are always a challenge and we have used it to great effect in `Krrish.' Work of a complex nature was executed. The hardware network was delicate in nature.
The special effects were critically important adding intensity to the images and action shots. A whole futuristic set was designed and implemented by the team at Prasad EFX in 3D.
Unique project
Mohan Krishnan, Corpcom Head, Prasad Group says, "This was a prestigious project for us at the Prasad Group, unlike any other VFX feature film done outside India. We provided the DI, VFX and Film Lab services for "Krrish" and all of us here are thrilled and are eager to see the audience reaction.
Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan supported our technicians all the way and took time off to be with us in Chennai to personally encourage us, see and approve various shots."
How many minutes of FX work did "Krrish" involve?
Approximately 90 minutes.
What were the challenges that were overcome?
VFX requires absolute dedication and there were a lot of minute details to attend to. The whole project was on the lines of a high end Hollywood VFX film. Craig Mumma and Marc Kolbe (VFX Supervisors) are perfectionists who demanded unswerving attention. And the movie has more than 1,000 VFX shots! All these had to be done with an eye on the deadlines, winning approvals, and most important we had to be professionally satisfied.
