Alliance Francaise de Delhi and Embassy of France in India in association with The Ashok presented the 25th edition of Fete de la Musique (World Music Day) this past Wednesday at Lily Pool Lawns, The Ashok, Chanakyapuri. India International Centre presented popular melodies of Pankaj Kumar Mullick, the legendary composer by Jhinuk Gupta, grand daughter in law of the composer.
Exhibition
The newly opened Canvas Art Gallery at 1, Guru Angad Bhawan, Nehru Place is displaying remarkable landscapes by Ghanshyam Kashyap till June 29. The watercolour paintings depict scenes from Ladakh.and other hilly regions. The show is one view from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except Sundays.
Award
The Kal Ke Kalakar festival in Mumbai has for decades played an important role in helping young classical musicians and dancers find their feet on the professional stage.
Recently young mridangam exponent Vetri Bhoopati, son and disciple of A Prem Kumar, received the Tala Mani award from this organisation.
Besides accompanying classical dancers and musicians and trying his hand at percussion ensembles, Vetri is employed in the music department of the National School of Drama.
Theatre Activities
While National School of Drama Repertory Company's Summer Theatre Festival, featuring a number of plays, concluded this past week, the Habitat Centre mounted Asmita Art Group's `Log Baag', an adaptation of Neil Simon's comedy `The Good Doctor'.
